Ilkley U3A is one of a world-wide family - over 500 in the UK alone.- dedicated to enabling retired people to stay young by sharing in many educational, creative and leisure activities. In our brief lifespan of nine years we have steadily grown in size and now have almost 600 members and offer about 60 courses. Ilkley U3A is registered as a charity and in order to provide these courses we ask for a membership fee of £10 per year and charge in general £9 per course per term to cover the cost of room hire etc.
Organisation is in the hands of a committee, the members of which are elected for a period of three years at the annual general meeting.

The committee organises and arranges the activities of Ilkley U3A. However, even more important are the course leaders and facilitators. Without these the U3A would not exist and we owe a great debt to them for giving their time so freely. We are happy to welcome people who come forward and offer their help in leading a course or in any other way. There is always support and advice available if you fancy 'having a go'.
Prospective leaders may be interested to know that courses can be built around videos and cassettes available to members through the resources centre at the U3A national website. more We also have a wide range of presentation material available to course leaders.
