A  Study Day based upon the life and times of William Shakespeare, prompted by the current 400th anniversary celebrations.

Due to the good capacity of the Wildman Theatre, places will be offered out simultaneously to both Ilkley and Wharfedale U3A, and to ' WestNet', our adjacent U3A groups in the Region. WestNet members please contact our Membership Secretary at membership@ilkleyu3a.org so you can be included in our contact list.

There will be a series of illustrated presentations on the different aspects of the life and work of Shakespeare including some historical background, how his works have stimulated artists over the centuries and how he has influenced the English language itself. We will also hear some of the Bard’s sonnets and soliloquies in performance and view excerpts from film, past and present, that will provide insights into how his plays were staged and performed. A number of interest groups will be combining their best efforts to provide what promises to be a fascinating and enjoyable experience for all concerned.

Cost: £15 (including drinks and buffet lunch)

Bookings on-line, or by post/cheque

Any enquiries to Peter Mate at 01943-609401.
